Cowboys sign La'el Collins and work out Damien Wilson

Frisco (KTRK) -- Following his Tuesday tryout, ESPN reports that the Dallas Cowboys will sign tackle/guard La'el Collins to their practice squad due to offensive line depth concerns.

Collins played left guard and right tackle with the Cowboys from 2015 to 2021, starting 71 of 74 games before joining the Bengals in 2022.

After left guard Tyler Smith tore his plantar fascia in his left foot during a win over the Detroit Lions, Dallas' offensive line is in danger. Coach Mike McCarthy suggests Smith may play in the Week 18 finale against the Washington Commanders.

Last week, backup tackle Chuma Edoga was out with a toe ailment and Tyron Smith with a back injury.

ESPN reported that the Cowboys tested out linebacker Damien Wilson on Tuesday, another postseason depth issue.

Since losing Leighton Vander Esch to a neck injury in October, Dallas has used Damone Clark and converted safety Markquese Bell as its starting linebackers.

The team cut Evans last week to make room for offensive tackle Matt Waletzko after his marijuana possession arrest.

Wilson was picked in the fourth round in 2015 and played 22 games for the Kansas City Chiefs (where he won a Super Bowl), Jacksonville Jaguars, and Carolina Panthers.

Collins tore his left anterior cruciate, medial collateral, and posterior cruciate ligaments last season for the Bengals.
