Euro 2024: England beats Netherlands 2-1 to reach final, faces Spain.

England defeated the Netherlands 2-1 in the Euro 2024 semifinals to move closer to winning. England makes its second Euro final appearance with the win.

A seventh-minute goal from 21-year-old Dutch midfielder Xavi Simons started the game quickly and excitingly. England equalised in the 18th minute when captain Harry Kane drew and scored a penalty.

Just five minutes later, Dutch defender Denzel Dumfries, who caused the PK, made up for his mistake with a stunning stop at the goal line. The Netherlands held on until halftime thanks to Dumfries.

As the Netherlands and England traded possession, the second half was more relaxed. Offsides denied England the winning goal in the 79th minute.

England took the lead in the last minutes when striker Ollie Watkins scored a wonderful goal in the 90th minute after being substituted.

Watkins' first goal for England in a big tournament came at a crucial time. A 28-year-old striker was named Player of the Match.

English teams have never won the Euros despite their best efforts. At the COVID-19-delayed Euro 2020, England reached the final but lost to Italy on penalties.

England will play Spain on Sunday (3 p.m. ET, Fox/Univision) to win its elusive Euro title. England won a 3-2 UEFA Nations League encounter against the two top UEFA teams in October 2018.
