Kevin Costner's Divorce Isn't About 'Yellowstone'

Kevin Costner's wife Christine Baumgartner filed for divorce on Tuesday, and days later, Yellowstone was cancelled, but a source says PEOPLE the two occurrences are unrelated.

After 18 years, Costner and Baumgartner breakup "has nothing to do with Yellowstone," the insider claims.

The insider said, "The two situations are unrelated." On Friday morning, Paramount confirmed that Taylor Sheridan's hit Western will conclude after the fifth season, which will run in November (assuming a quick settlement of the WGA strike, which began Tuesday).

After the finale, a new Yellowstone character will appear in December. Matthew McConaughey has been mentioned for a Dutton-focused spinoff, but casting has not been announced.

In April, ViacomCBS President Chris McCarthy told The Hollywood Reporter the McConaughey-led series will proceed.

Early this week, People reported Baumgartner, 49, filing for divorce from Costner, 68. "It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have transpired which have resulted in Mr.

Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage action," a Costner spokeswoman told PEOPLE Tuesday. "We ask that his, Christine's, and their children's privacy be respected as they navigate this difficult time."

They married in September 2004 and have three children: Cayden, 15, Hayes, 14, and Grace, 12. Costner has four older children from prior relationships: Annie, Lily, Joe, and Liam.
