Lainey Wilson 'Had so Much Fun' Watching Her 'Yellowstone' Season 5 Premiere Acting Debut

On Sunday, country music sensation Lainey Wilson debuted as a performer in Yellowstone's season 5 opener.

Wilson, 30, previously appeared on the Paramount Network series before joining the ensemble. She recently won two CMA Awards for new artist of the year and female vocalist of the year.

"So fun getting to watch the season premiere together live," Wilson wrote on Instagram after CMT posted a video of her celebrating.

"Cheers to @laineywilsonmusic's debut in @yellowstone Season 5 #YellowstoneTV," it captioned.

Wilson, whose latest CD Bell Bottom Country was released recently, plays Abby in the Kevin Costner-starring neo-Western thriller about the Dutton family.

Last month, the "Things a Man Oughta Know" singer told PEOPLE how she met the show's co-creator, Taylor Sheridan, after one of her songs was utilised.

"He said, 'I want to create a character specifically for you,'" she added. "He said, 'I want you to dress what you wear, sing what you sing, and be yourself. Call yourself Abby. She's a musician. I answered, "Yes, count me in," without thinking. Let's try."

Wilson said she loved filming and would like more acting roles. "I enjoy creating things," she told PEOPLE, "and acting is that. Just being creative."
