The Brooklyn Cocktail: A Pre-Prohibition Gem.

The Brooklyn is a pre-prohibition cocktail made with rye whisky, dry vermouth, maraschino liqueur and amaro.

Ingredients: 2 oz rye whisky, 1 oz dry vermouth, ¼ oz maraschino liqueur, ¼ oz amaro, 1 or 2 maraschino cherries for garnish, and ice cubes for shaking.

The first step in our Brooklyn recipe is to measure out the four liquors.

We utilise a Japanese jigger in this and other cocktail recipes to ensure precise quantities and clean pours.

After measuring the liquors, pour them directly into a mixing glass.

Stir in a handful of ice until the ingredients are thoroughly mixed and cold. This phase should take about 20 to 30 seconds.

Strain the cocktail into a coupe glass.

Pro Tip: Although you could use another type of glass, a coupe glass works best in this recipe.
