Why Lena Dunham Is 'Very Careful' to Protect Friend Taylor Swift 'Every Single Way'

Lena Dunham continually defends Taylor Swift, her pal. After more than a decade of friendship, the Girls creator, 38, explained why she feels protective over the "Fortnight" singer, who has been extensively criticised.

From her 2016 girl "squad" to her love interests, Dunham told The New Yorker that Swift's personal life has always been "so microscopic" and held to "set of standards that were so outlandish."

"I’m always very careful to be protective of her in every single way," said. "'What is Taylor like?' and 'Can I have Eras Tour tickets?' are my most frequently asked questions. I normally say no to both."

Though Dunham keeps her friend's life private, she stated Swift is "everything that you would want her to be."

"She’s kind, she’s devoted, she’s introspective, she’s emotional, she’s funny as f---," she said. "I guess my feeling sometimes is, Isn’t she giving us enough, guys?"

The Treasure star may not be assisting her friends and family buy Eras Tour tickets, but she will sing her heart out at a concert soon.

"I like to sometimes go to the cities that are a little bit more off the beaten path," she remarked of the album tour.

Dunham said she's always felt a deep connection to Swift's music and doesn't hold back at shows, in addition to their longtime friendship.
